SARD’s board comprises of eminent members from different walks of life who come with long standing experience working with the development sphere and Government.
Current Board Members
Mr. S. C. Goyal
Mr. S.C. Goyal is the President of the board of SARD. Formerly, he worked as Secretary General of T.B.
Association of India and he worked as the Dy. Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society and he has also
served as Deputy Commissioner in Chief of St. John Ambulance India.
Mr. R. Narendhar
Mr. R.Narendhar is the second Vice-President of SARD. He is currently working as the Executive Director
with Alzheimer’s Society of India. He is the founding member and current vice chair of Indian Alliance
for Patient Group, an integral member of International Alliance of Patients’ Organizations. He is also
the founding member of Healthy India Alliance, which is a member organization of Global NCD Alliance.
One of his key contribution has been in advocating a Dementia India Strategy with government to support
people living with Alzheimer’s and related disorders.
Mr. Tapan Daripa
Mr. Tapan Daripa is an executive founding member of SARD and comes with more than 30 years of experience
in public health and nutrition interventions. He has contributed extensively in programs on child health,
nutrition and education with CARE in his tenure. He is the co-author of the popular book entitled ‘flesh trade in India’.
Mrs. Nishat Farooq
Ms. Nishat Farooque, formerly Director of State Resource Centre-SRC, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi,
specialised in literacy and continuing education. She was engaged in planning, supervision and integrating
the various programmes and activities of the SRC. She has made significant contribution in the area of
adult literacy in India and other South Asian countries.
Dr Shankar Chaudhary
Dr Shankar Chaudhary is a public health expert and is a former Associate Professor with AIIMS in the department
of community medicine. In his long and illustrious career, he has extensively contributed on programs related to
HIV and AIDS, education policy and implementation with UNESCO, academic institutions and government.
Dr Adesh Chaturvedi
Dr Adesh Chaturvedi, presently is the team leader of ‘Utkrisht Impact Bond palladium’. He is a public health
management expert and has been prominent development organisations namely CARE, European Union, Norway India
Partnership Initiative, UNDP and the World Bank. He was also the Associate Professor at Goa Institute of Management.
Mr. Sudhir Bhatnagar
Mr. Sudhir Bhatnagar is the CEO of SARD and is the General Secretary of the Board. He is one of the founding members to have
set up this NGO in 1996. He began his career with the Indian Red Cross, where he worked for 11 years in the areas of training,
relief, medical aid and disaster management. He comes with an extensive background of managing and implementing programs for
government, civil society and corporate sector. He is a committed and passionate development professional widely recognized
by various governments, international forums, corporate bodies and academic institutions.
